for stolen vehicles anymore - at least in the Virginia Beach area. They take the report over the phone, put out an alert, and that's it. I can say they are now using the new license plate scanners that are supposed to alert them should they pass a vehicle in the database. That tech is worthless though if the thief changes the plates on the car. Unfortunately for the victim, stolen vehicles are not a priority for them - interrupts their patrol door-to-door talk time sitting in the local Lowes parking lot.
